It’s been some time since I have posted. My daughters Locs are coming along slower than I expected but it is so much easier than the weekly wash detangle, part and twist that we used to do that I can’t complain and I have no regrets!
The day after, having spent 10 min the night before putting in sponge rollers.
This is my first blog, and I am still unsure if I want to go down this route! I am starting this blog because I AM ALWAYS FED UP WITH MY HAIR!!! I have had it texturized for the better part of 20 years. Having two girl children with hair similar to mine (4a/c, while theirs is more 4c) I have tried to get on the natural hair bandwagon. I have tried multiple times to transition to my hair’s natural state, the longest lasting about 7 mths, but it JUST LOOKED SO NASTY. I was planning to try it one more time with the help of box braids. My 6 year old had a (incredibly expensive) haircut and product heavy wash and go- and that was when it occurred to me. My hair was going to be “nappier than expected” (see CurlyNicki’s blog). I had all of these YouTube fuelled fantasies of my 3b/4a hair which was going to fall in glorious ringlets after an effortless wash and go, or have beautiful waves post chunky twist-out. Seeing the 70% shrinkage of my daughter’s hair, and having brief flashbacks to my TWA’s, I realized that that was not what my hair is built to do! So it looks like I am going to give Sisterlocks a try. Stay tuned…..
